Today (Wednesday, Aug. 31) is the final date to file nomination papers for nonpartisan positions. The necessary paperwork must be filed in the Greene County auditor’s office by 5 pm to be placed on the Nov. 8 ballot.
Offices on the general election ballot are Agricultural Extension Council, Greene County Medical Center board of trustees, Soil and Water Conservation Commission, and township trustees and clerks.
Wednesday is also the last day to file nominating petitions for the Jefferson city council seat open due to the resignation of Lisa Jaskey. Candidates must live in Jefferson’s second ward; voting will be at large. ~The Scranton Journal
